On 4 July, Association member companies, the Board of Representatives, current and historical leadership of the Association, partners, funders, and policymakers thanked ITU for its impact on the development of IT, as well as for promoting the interests of the industry in Ukraine and the country’s tech brand at the global level.
Vice Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science, and Technology Development and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov personally congratulated ITU on the significant event: “I am grateful to the Association for its important contribution to the development of the IT industry in Ukraine and the development of Ukraine’s brand as a leading developer and supplier of IT products and services in the world. We will continue to implement projects that will allow us to become an innovative and technological country.”
Participants of the ITU General Meeting were the first in Ukraine to learn that the country has started beta testing of electronic booking in Diia. It will last for several weeks, after which the service will be introduced to the public. “Employees will be able to update their data in a few clicks, and this will be considered a military record document. Company managers will be able to select employees and book them. There will be no need to go anywhere,” Mykhailo Fedorov told the Association’s members and guests at the meeting.
Taras Kytsmey, the founder of the Association, who is not only a co-founder and member of the Board of Directors of SoftServe, but also a true legend of the IT industry, told how it all started 20 years ago: “Our organisation was founded on the values we embraced from the very beginning, namely free enterprise and fair competition. We realised that we had the potential to create something great — an association that would unite us and represent our interests.”
Oleksandr Yarema, State Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, spoke about the significant impact of the IT industry on the life of the state and the role of the Association in his greeting: “Over the decades, the IT industry has made significant strides forward and has become an integral part of business, social, and government life. This proves that the values laid down were right, and you are on the right path to success.”
Andriy Kashperuk, Deputy Chairman of the Board for Retail Banking of the sustainable and reliable bank partner UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group, also congratulated the Association on its 20th anniversary.
“The Association is technological and human, mature and innovative, Ukrainian, but with an international level,” — this is how Olena Samborska, President (Managing Director/HR Director Luxoft Ukraine), sees ITU. Former presidents of the Association Mykola Roenko (Founder, Member of the Board of Miratech), Yuriy Antoniuk (VP, GDO CEE Head of EPAM) and Vitaly Sedler (CEO and co-founder of Intellias) joined the Meeting with welcoming remarks.
The participants were greeted by Alex Bornyakov, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for IT Development, and Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defence for Digitalisation, Digital Transformation and Digital Development, who joined the discussion panel on the impact of the IT industry on the development of the state in three dimensions – economic, social, and partnership – along with Sviatoslav Kavetskyi, Director of Industry Affairs at N-iX, and Dmytro Hryn, CEO of Jooble Job Aggregator. Kateryna Chernogorenko spoke about digitalisation in the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, noting that two million Ukrainians have already updated their data in Reserve+, “a transparent and reliable tool of the future in the digital MTC”.
ITU Executive Director Maria Shevchuk presented the six-month results of the Association’s work. “In the last six months only, we have conducted a unique market research “Digital Tiger: the Power of Ukrainian IT – 2023”, established new international partnerships and significantly expanded cooperation with existing ones. We participated in more than 30 international events, exhibitions, and trade missions. We created the first conference for IT communicators in Ukraine – Ukrainian TechComms Days, and became a partner of the large-scale Ukrainian IT showroom – SVOE.IT(“CВОЄ ІТ”). This spring, we implemented a large-scale national educational project IT for UNI: Bootcamp 2.0 and implemented many other projects.
The Association is also active in the area of GR: we joined working groups and committees of government agencies as experts, worked on booking, national revenue strategy, etc. We helped develop sanctions against russia in terms of access to the latest technologies. We analysed more than 750 draft laws and 1200 decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, and launched the E-Support portal for memebers to provide them with comprehensive legal support. Today, the selection of EBA Ambassadors is nearing completion, and the newly formed committees for the AgriTech, CyberTech, FinTech, and EdTech verticals have begun their active work.
At the general meeting, new members were traditionally awarded – 32 new memebers were welcomed to the Association!
