Representatives of Ukraine’s IT industry met with Valerii Churkin, Deputy Head of the Office of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine (NSDC), to discuss the current state of digital transformation in the country’s security and defence sector and the opportunities it presents for the private market. The event was organised by the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine in partnership with the IT Ukraine Association and UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group.
IT industry representatives were presented with the results of an analysis of digitalisation across Ukraine’s security and defence sector, conducted by the NSDC Office. The assessment methodology was outlined, combining quantitative indicators (a list of capabilities) with qualitative ones (depth of automation). Participants reviewed the extent to which identified capabilities are covered by information and communication systems, their current level of automation, and the gaps identified within specific functional areas.
This analysis is a starting point that will allow the public and private sectors to align on digitalisation priorities,
said Valerii Churkin.
Our task is to coordinate the public and private sectors so that businesses can engage directly in areas where additional resources are needed and where suitable technological solutions are currently lacking. This includes supply, protection, strike capability and deployment [in line with the functional blocks of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine’s unified list of capabilities]. This is where the IT industry can make a substantial contribution,
Churkin noted.
Following the meeting, participants identified priority areas for further cooperation and practical opportunities for collaboration between government and the IT industry. The next stage will see the dialogue continue with representatives of executive authorities.
Ukraine’s IT industry already has unique expertise, technology and experience, shaped under conditions of full-scale war. Our task is to help turn this potential into concrete solutions for the state and to ensure they are scaled up wherever they are needed most,
