Representatives of the AI Committee of the IT Ukraine Association and Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation have discussed government policy priorities in artificial intelligence, the development of Ukraine’s AI ecosystem, and business preparedness for the European regulatory environment. A key focus of the meeting was shaping a national approach to AI regulation and drafting relevant legislation aligned with the provisions of the EU AI Act. Business and government representatives discussed how Ukrainian AI companies can adapt to the requirements of the European regulatory environment, along with the potential risks and challenges facing the technology sector.
We are creating a supportive environment for AI development so that Ukrainian products remain competitive on the global market and businesses can adopt innovation with ease. We’re following a flexible model: first, we help companies adapt to the EU AI Act, and only then do we adopt legislation. The meeting also addressed mechanisms for systematically involving AI industry representatives in discussions on government policy and regulatory initiatives — in particular, the potential for the AI Committee of the IT Ukraine Association to contribute its member companies’ expertise to regulatory development, state initiative planning, and building practical channels of cooperation between government and the technology business community.
Ukrainian technology companies already have substantial practical expertise in developing and implementing AI solutions. It’s important for us that this expertise is systematically integrated into policymaking and joint initiatives that will help Ukrainian companies scale and remain competitive in European and global markets

The next step will be continued working dialogue between the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the IT Ukraine AI Committee, further development of the agreed areas of cooperation, and the involvement of member companies’ expertise in relevant initiatives.
