On Tuesday, June 24th, the ITU Webinar ““B2B Mastery of Caring for Team Health, the Most Valuable Asset” took place, organised by the IT Ukraine Association in cooperation with ITU Partner VUSO and ITU Member Luxoft.
Viktor Grek, Deputy Chairman of the Board of VUSO, and Olena Samborska, Chief Human Resources Officer at Luxoft, shared their experiences. They discussed how the work format has changed during the war, the introduction of new online services like eTherapist, details about medical insurance for employees, and the challenges for 2025, including inflation, employee turnover, and changes in staff composition. Among the information shared:
LUXOFT provides medical insurance for its employees, which has evolved over the years to become more flexible, particularly through programs with different focuses (dentistry, wellness, healthcare). Each employee can choose the necessary service package. Meanwhile, VUSO has been involved in medical insurance for over 15 years and has one of the largest medical assistance networks in Ukraine, serving over 110,000 insured individuals and more than 400 legal entities.
Challenges during the full-scale invasion:
After the war began, LUXOFT continued its adaptation efforts, including organising work abroad. This ensured the continuity of the company’s operations in a crisis situation.
VUSO also adapted to the current challenges, with the number of medical institutions providing services decreasing at the start of the war. However, the number has since been nearly restored to pre-war levels. The company also incorporated military risks into its programs, addressing the rising demand. Separate limits for medical assistance are offered to military personnel, demobilised soldiers, and veterans.
Both companies are actively working on retaining existing staff and recruiting new specialists. However, among the workforce challenges:
LUXOFT, like many other companies, faces a talent shortage, as the demand for qualified personnel increases.
VUSO has encountered similar issues, as medical professionals have become essential on the front lines.
Special care for internal and external clients:
For LUXOFT, medical insurance is a crucial part of the employee benefits package. Additionally, employees are offered the opportunity to insure their family members through corporate programs, which is an important form of social support.
VUSO provides clients with innovative services, including eTherapist, integrated into the medical system. This allows consultations without the need for registration on other platforms, saving significant time.
Gig contracts:
LUXOFT interacts with employees on the basis of gig contracts, but the company has the necessary tools to ensure proper contract and insurance documentation.
VUSO works efficiently with gig contracts and provides special electronic contract forms and options for convenient registration through a mobile app, ensuring timeliness and efficiency in the processes.
Taxation of medical insurance:
LUXOFT applies standard taxation forms for its employees, but issues related to tax savings and benefits in medical insurance are not the company’s primary focus.
VUSO, through special conditions and medical insurance contract forms, allows clients to save up to 23.5% on medical services, which is a significant advantage for legal entities while complying with legislative norms.
