Ukraine may become one of the first countries in the world to regulate the activities of artificial intelligence.

The IT Ukraine Association, as a representative of the industry, together with the National Association of Lawyers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Digital Transformation, the Information Rights Monitoring Department of the Secretariat of the VRU Commissioner for Human Rights and other institutions started their work on development of a strategic approach to regulating the activities of artificial intelligence in Ukraine, taking into account legal, ethical, security and innovative aspects.

The working group, which was joined by the IT Ukraine Association, aims to implement the European developments outlined in the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act), proposed by the European Commission on April 21, 2021, through the joint efforts of experts in the field of law, representatives of government and business . The bill can become a basic legal act on the development and functioning of artificial intelligence in the EU.

This is an important step in creating an ecosystem for the development of artificial intelligence in Ukraine. The Association encourages its members to actively express their opinions and experience regarding the regulation of artificial intelligence aiming to collaboratively ensure its appropriate development and utilisation.
