Spanish Business Shows Interest in Ukrainian IT and Opportunities for Long-Term Cooperation

Ukraine’s IT industry is attracting increasing attention from international investors. This was confirmed at the Spanish-Ukrainian Business Forum in Kyiv, which brought together representatives of Spanish IT, telecom and technology companies interested in entering the Ukrainian market, joint projects and investment.

Oleksandra Stepanenko, Director of Sectoral Development at the IT Ukraine Association, took part in the panel discussion “Report on Ukraine’s IT Sector: General Overview and Prospects”.

The discussion was based on the “The Code Economy” study, which demonstrates the scale of the Ukrainian IT industry and its impact on the country’s economy.

Key facts include:

  • Ukrainian start-ups attracted $498 million in investment and grants in 2025;
  • investment in DefenceTech grew 19-fold, reaching $129 million;
  • AI start-ups attracted $302 million — 2.8 times more than start-ups without an AI component;
  • around 500 Diia.City residents operate in DefenceTech, with almost 200 more in AI.

Participants also discussed promising areas for investment and potential B2B cooperation in DefenceTech, AI, EdTech, MedTech, AgroTech, GreenTech, GovTech and CyberTech.

For the international community, Ukraine’s experience represents a unique precedent: no other country has undergone such large-scale digital transformation under wartime conditions. This makes the Ukrainian IT sector both a target for investment and a practical testing ground for solutions that could later be scaled globally.

We thank the forum organisers for the invitation. The IT Ukraine Association will continue developing international cooperation, creating new opportunities for investment and promoting Ukrainian technologies worldwide.
