On May 20, Diia.City Union and the IT Ukraine Association held a working meeting with Viktor Mykyta, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. Together with representatives from the largest IT companies, regional IT clusters, and other members of the country’s technology community, they discussed the current issues of the IT business functioning under martial law, both nationally and regionally.
The IT industry today employs more than 300,000 professionals working in service and product IT companies, contributing to cyber defense. The industry ranks second in service exports, consistently pays taxes, supports the Armed Forces, and has the potential to become one of the main drivers of economic recovery and contribute to the repatriation of talents from abroad.
During the meeting, the need to establish a permanent dialogue mechanism between the industry and both the national and regional authorities, including military administrations, was discussed. The issue of legislative initiatives, particularly the support for bill No. 11492, which bans russian software, was also raised.
In the first weeks of the full-scale war, the western regions welcomed hundreds of thousands of engineers, created clusters, and united the community to ensure that the best professionals stayed in Ukraine and strengthened the country. Thanks to this, we have a deep understanding of how the industry works, the issues that arise, the role of local authorities, and how to build mutual trust,
— noted Viktor Mykyta.
We express our gratitude to Mr Mykyta and the Office of the President of Ukraine for the open discussion and their willingness to continue the dialogue with business to solve complex but crucial issues!
