The IT sector has the potential to be one of the first to fully integrate into the EU Internal Market. This is why we must create the best possible conditions for its development. Taras Kachka, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Trade Representative of Ukraine, emphasised this during a meeting with Diia.City Union and the IT Ukraine Association.
Our task is to harmonise Ukrainian legislation with EU regulations so that businesses do not lose their competitiveness, but instead gain new growth opportunities,
— stated Taras Kachka.
He also informed about the ongoing negotiation process for Ukraine’s EU membership and highlighted that, together with the European Commission, a screening process to assess the alignment of Ukrainian legislation with European standards is underway, with completion planned for autumn 2025.
Key areas of IT development in the context of European integration discussed at the meeting included:
Digital integration must be deeply considered. It is important not only to adapt to European standards but also to create conditions in which Ukrainian IT businesses can operate and grow comfortably. Integrating state digital services into European systems, involving businesses in regulatory formulation, and sharing experiences with the EU will help us navigate this path effectively and open new opportunities for the industry,
— stated Marta Kindryts, Director, IT industry development and advocacy Center at IT Ukraine Association.
Our shared strategic goal is to ensure that Ukrainian IT businesses do not just adapt to European standards but also receive new incentives for growth. As the Diia.City Union community, we are working towards making the transition to the EU Internal Market a springboard for industry development, rather than a challenge,
— added Valeria Kushnerchuk, Executive Director of Diia.City Union.
At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister called on businesses to provide regular feedback and encouraged closer communication between government experts on European integration and businesses. This will ensure that all interests of Ukrainian businesses are considered in the negotiation process, which is a common goal for the government, businesses, and civil society.
Our shared strategic task is to ensure the most favorable conditions for the functioning and development of Ukrainian businesses as they transition to European standards and integrate into the EU Internal Market,
— concluded Taras Kachka.
