Stakeholder Dialogue Held to Develop Solutions for the Strategic Development of the Cybersecurity Market

On July 30, 2024, The Aspen Institute Kyiv in collaboration  with the IT Ukraine Association held the Dialogue “Ukrainian Cybersecurity Market: Strategic Growth and Opportunities”.

 

The goal of the Dialogue is to consolidate the efforts of cybersecurity market representatives, the public sector and relevant associations to identify market challenges. Experts brainstormed together on strategies to overcome these challenges for the sustainable development of the industry.

 

The participants agreed that the cybersecurity sector in Ukraine requires the consolidation of efforts of all stakeholders and joint development of further steps for its advancement. The key aspect of this should be a platform for interaction between the state, business and specialized associations. Effective and rapid development of the industry also requires leaders who can convey to society the importance of protection in cyberspace, as it pertains to protecting both the protection of personal data of each citizen and the country as a whole, especially amidst the Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

 

There are both reasons and prerequisites for the active development of the cybersecurity market in Ukraine. The Association, thanks to the specialized CyberTech Committee, is creating a platform to identify and form a roadmap and remove barriers that currently exist both in the domestic and international markets,

said Taras Kornieiev, leader of the CyberTech committee at the IT Ukraine Association.

 

During the event, moderated by strategist Andriy Myroniuk, founder of the strategic consulting agency Myroniuk Consulting, participants:

• Discussed the barriers and challenges that hinder the development of the cybersecurity sector in Ukraine;
• Analyzed current challenges for the development and retention of human capital during the war;
• Identified obstacles to the export of services and solutions in the cybersecurity field;
• Discussed necessary legislative and regulatory initiatives to stimulate sthe development of the sector;
• Determined steps to create Ukraine’s image as a key leader in cybersecurity on the international stage.

 

The participants’ findings from the Dialogue will be transferred for further work and implementation within the CyberTech Committee of the IT Ukraine Association. The idea of creating the CyberTech committee of the IT Ukraine Association arose, in particular, during events of the Aspen Institute Kyiv’s “Cybersecurity Dialogue” Program, which serves as a platform for interaction among IT sector representatives who are members of the IT Ukraine Association and the cybersecurity market.

 

The event was held within the framework of the “Cybersecurity Dialogue” Program, implemented by Aspen Institute Kyiv with the support of the USAID “Cybersecurity of Ukraine’s Critical Infrastructure” Project in collaboration with the IT Ukraine Association. The IT Ukraine Association created the CyberTech committee with the participation of the general partner UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group.
