Lviv IT Cluster, in cooperation with the Open Eyes Fund, commences the second phase of the emergency project United for health, which is aimed at helping in the fight against the spread of coronavirus. At this stage, everyone will be able to participate and contribute to the organization of mass testing for COVID-19 in Lviv and Lviv region.
As a reminder, after quarantine measures were introduced in Ukraine, Lviv IT Cluster has consolidated the local IT community to help the city and the region combat the spread of COVID-19. On March 23, we launched the United for health project, within the frames of which the first batch of coronavirus express tests (20,000 pieces) was purchased, and the next (20,000 pieces) were ordered. Almost 5 million UAH was raised inside the community. The tests were distributed to the city and regional authorities, and mass testing of citizens in Lviv and Lviv region has started.
Ukraine still ranks last in the ranking of countries by the number of tested for COVID-19. The experience of foreign countries shows that besides following the rules of hygiene, social distancing and quarantine, the most effective measure to reduce the scale of the pandemic and save human lives is mass testing accompanied by monitoring and isolation of infected individuals. The IT community supports reasonable and smart decisions in this fight; therefore, we consider large-scale testing to be a necessary step for our city and country at the moment.
