The IT Ukraine Association has created the IT and Innovation Committee at the Federation of Employers of Ukraine (FDU). This decision was made by the Presidium of the FDU Council, and the newly established Committee will be led by the Executive Director of the IT Ukraine Association, Maria Shevchuk.

The IT industry has long been one of the key drivers of the Ukrainian economy. Participation in the FDU and the creation of the IT and Innovation Committee allow us to amplify the voice of the sector and work on systemic solutions for the development of a competitive digital economy. Particularly important is the focus on developing the domestic IT market — we see enormous potential in the digitisation of traditional industries and the creation of our own technological products for Ukrainian businesses and the public sector. This is not only a matter of economic growth but also of technological independence and resilience for our country,

– emphasised Maria Shevchuk.

The Federation of Employers of Ukraine is one of the largest business associations in the country, representing the interests of over 8,000 enterprises that together form about 70% of Ukraine’s Gross Domestic Product and provide more than 3 million jobs.

The creation of the IT and Innovation Committee within the FDU is an important step to ensure that the IT sector plays a more active role in shaping economic and industrial policies. IT already makes a significant contribution to Ukraine’s economy and exports and has great potential for modernising other sectors. We welcome IT Ukraine’s membership in the FDU and expect the Committee’s expertise to support the development of innovations and digitalisation in Ukrainian businesses,

– said Dmitro Oliynyk, Chairman of the FDU Council.

The involvement of the Association in the work of the FDU provides the IT industry with new opportunities for systematic representation of business interests both at the national and international levels. In particular, cooperation will allow:

  • Strengthening the IT industry’s participation in the formation and agreement of legal acts concerning the development of the digital economy and innovation;

  • Integrating the IT sector of Ukraine into the institutional system of social dialogue and the formulation of economic policies that align with the European model of state-business interaction and will contribute to the gradual adaptation of national regulation to EU standards;

  • Participating in the formation of state policy in the field of digital development in an institutional and transparent manner through the unification of employers.

The involvement of IT Ukraine in the FDU and leadership in the newly established Committee is a logical continuation of the Association’s efforts to strengthen the voice of the IT industry and integrate technological expertise into the formation of the country’s economic policy.
