"Digital Tiger: the Market Power of Ukrainian IT — 2024" – A Research on the Prospects of Ukrainian IT in Key Global Export Markets

The IT Ukraine Association has presented a unique study that has become a convincing and comprehensive roadmap for potential partners in the main export markets for Ukrainian IT. “Digital Tiger: the Market Power of Ukrainian IT — 2024” introduces potential partners to the capabilities of the Ukrainian IT industry and demonstrates that working with Ukrainian IT companies is profitable and reliable.

The study reflects the strategies of Ukrainian IT in global markets, developed based on a large-scale survey of Ukrainian companies, including:

  • The role of Ukrainian IT industry in the global economy;
  • IT companies and their development;
  • Education and career opportunities for IT professionals;
  • Analysis of strategic initiatives;
  • Global goals and innovative projects;
  • Prospects for the further development of the industry.

Digital Tiger is a marketing tool that will be instrumental not only for companies but also for all partners, including the government, experts and media. During the research, we reviewed the development dynamics over the last 5 years, analysed reports, company data, partner organizations and public information,

— said Maria Shevchuk, Executive Director of the IT Ukraine Association.

Understanding the prospects of Ukrainian IT companies in six key export markets — the USA, the UK, Germany, Israel, Switzerland, and Poland — was the main goal of this year’s study. The criteria for the study included: trade balance, representations and key clients, plans for promotion and industry prospects in these countries. Thus, 71% of companies have employees, agents, or distributors in at least one of the key partner countries and 54% have already opened an official representative office in at least one of these countries.

Last year, we compared the potential of Ukrainian IT with industries in Brazil, the Czech Republic, India, and Poland – our main competitors on the global market – by business climate indicators; workforce reserves and level of technical education; competitiveness and IT infrastructure. Ukrainian IT is an essential component of the global market. Therefore, this year’s “Digital Tiger” complements rather than replaces last year’s report, providing a full analytical overview of the Ukrainian IT industry, its verticals, prospects and partnership advantages. These are different product studies that serve as effective tools for collaborating with partners.

We, as the ministry responsible for developing the IT industry, express our gratitude to the IT Ukraine Association and top leaders for this insightful research. It will become an essential tool for promoting our industry abroad. Keep up the great work, we are looking forward to new initiatives,

— said Oleksandr Borniakov, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

Despite the war, the Ukrainian IT industry continues to grow thanks to the efforts of companies and the community. Our industry holds strategic importance, large investment opportunities, and strong positions in international markets. New directions are emerging, such as MilTech, drones and cybersecurity, making our experience valuable not only for Ukraine but for the world as a whole,

— from the speech of Anton Demokhin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalisation.

If you’re a director or owner, share this presentation with your partners to pleasantly surprise them. Communications specialists are advised to use the graphs for stylish content on social media. Analysts — integrate the data into ChatGPT for improved market analysis,

– Stanislav Shum, founder and CEO of Top Lead.

Ukrainian IT has been actively transforming business processes for the third year and making a significant contribution to the country’s defense capabilities and economic resilience. Our specialists are working in the digital dimension of war — from battlefield technologies to cybersecurity. Despite the challenges of war, mobilisation, workforce migration, and economic uncertainty, the IT industry has maintained about 5% of GDP in 2024. In 2025, we have a real growth potential due to delayed demand. Ukrainian IT is shaping the future of the country — innovative, competitive and resilient to the challenges of time,

— Andriy Kashperuk, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Director of Retail Business at UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group.

Ukrainian IT companies are successfully integrating into global exports, allowing them not only to maintain and develop partnerships but also to better understand their clients and global trends. Today, the IT sector is the only one of the top 5 exporters that has increased its share in exports over the last 5 years.

Among Ukraine’s total exports (goods and services), the IT industry ranks second and among service exports, it ranks first. The IT sector also holds second place in terms of its share in the economy (by GDP).

In the geographic distribution of Ukrainian IT exports, the leading markets are the most lucrative — primarily the USA and Europe. This reflects the high competitiveness and strong demand for Ukrainian IT solutions. The broad geography of exports – Ukrainian IT services are exported to 147 countries worldwide — confirms the trust of international clients and significant potential for further industry development.

The United States continues to be the primary importer of Ukrainian IT services over the last 10 years, accounting for more than 37% of the total volume. Meanwhile, a key trend is the gradual increase in cooperation with European countries, including Switzerland, Israel, Germany, Poland and others. This reflects new strategic directions in Ukraine’s international trade development.

IT companies are actively seeking to scale and strengthen their positions in the global market. Analysis based on a multi-level survey of Ukrainian IT companies showed that:

  • Over 91% of companies plan to promote their products or services in key partner countries;
  • 30% of companies consider development both in local and global markets.
