Development of proprietary IT products at Clarity Ukraine

Development of proprietary IT products at Clarity Ukraine

Publication date:

  • 06.02.2026

Publication from:

Vitaly Kurdyumov, CBDO Clarity Ukraine

How Clarity Ukraine Creates and Develops Add-ons for Business Central and the Ukrainian Localisation of the System. This article is dedicated to the in-house product development department at Clarity Ukraine, which over the past year has created and enhanced a number of its own add-ons and the localisation of Business Central. This demonstrates not only deep expertise in the system we specialise in — Business Central — but also a profound understanding of customer pain points, the need to adapt the system to Ukrainian accounting specifics, and the integration with other systems and services that improve user experience, reporting and electronic document management.

A Product Approach to Business Central Development

We work systematically on our current suite of applications, while maintaining a substantial backlog of product development and complex industry solutions for our clients in the year ahead. We also regularly release localisation updates to ensure full compliance with Ukrainian legislation. Our ambition is excellence both in service IT — where we implement the system with a clear focus and team expertise — and in product IT, where we create an ecosystem of add-ons that strengthen the capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, a powerful cloud ERP platform.

Proprietary Add-ons as a Continuation of ERP Implementation Practice

Developing proprietary solutions is a logical extension of Clarity Ukraine’s long-standing practice of implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Working with the system at the level of architecture, accounting models and business processes of real companies, the team gradually formed a dedicated product direction focused on creating and developing additional solutions that address business needs beyond the standard ERP functionality.

Over the past year, the development department not only maintained its existing line of applications but also significantly expanded and deepened their functionality. These improvements stem from a deep understanding of Business Central as a platform and systematic engagement with the requests of CFOs, accountants and management teams operating in the realities of the Ukrainian market.

Development of the “Accounting by Agreements” Solution

Special attention was given to the “Accounting by Agreements” solution, which received a series of functional enhancements aimed at more precise and transparent accounting of contracts and settlements. Practice shows that standard ERP mechanisms are insufficient for financial accounting by agreements and tracking key contract parameters. Development was therefore based on real usage scenarios, improved manageability of financial data and enhanced analytical accounting.

Key improvements included:

  • Expanded functionality for working with contracts, including the ability to define contract types and support multi-level structures (framework agreements, main contracts and appendices).
  • Linking contracts with project accounting and price lists, enabling accurate reflection of financial terms across projects and commercial arrangements.
  • Added attachments and comments in contract cards, and improved analytics directly within contracts, increasing transparency and data control.

Continuous Ukrainian Localisation of Business Central

Localisation remains a permanent focus. At Clarity Ukraine, localisation is not treated as a one-off task but as continuous work to ensure compliance with legislation and adaptation to the real needs of Ukrainian accountants. Over the past year, we refined core accounting modules, including currency revaluation, fixed asset accounting and inventory, as well as daily operations of Ukrainian accounting departments.

Examples include:

  • Automatic calculation of currency differences between commercial and NBU exchange rates during foreign currency transactions.
  • Expanded fixed asset functionality, including improved depreciation mechanisms (including low-value assets) and enhanced analytics in asset documents.
  • Improved procedures for writing off inventory to fixed assets.
  • Group accounting of assets during commissioning and disposal.
  • Batch selection of fixed assets in documents.
  • Enhanced inventory functionality.

VAT Accounting Enhancements

A major set of changes addressed VAT accounting, extending functionality to reflect practical tax scenarios, including consolidated tax invoices, VAT on imported services and expanded analytical reporting. These improvements reduce the operational burden on finance teams and minimise risks of tax accounting errors.

Analytics and Turnover Balance Reports

The team also advanced analytical capabilities beyond the system’s standard features. We implemented universal approaches to turnover and analytical reporting, adaptable to different business models and management needs, ensuring stable performance with large data volumes and clear interpretation for management.

Cash Flow and Treasury Management

Significant enhancements were made to cash flow management solutions. The “Advanced Treasury” add-on focused on improving payment approval control, automating payment order creation and deepening forecasting analytics. The “Bank Payments Matching” add-on synchronises bank statement lines with payment requests and improves counterparty identification during statement uploads, reducing manual work and providing timely insights into receivables, payables and cash positions.

New Products and Ecosystem Development

Development of existing solutions runs in parallel with new product creation. Two major solutions are currently undergoing Microsoft registration, marking a logical stage in Clarity Ukraine’s product expertise and confirming market relevance.

A Unified Centre of Business Central Expertise in Ukraine

By combining deep expertise in implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with a product approach to developing proprietary add-ons, Clarity Ukraine offers clients not just an ERP system but a comprehensive applied environment adapted to local requirements, real business processes and strategic goals. This is how we are building the only centre of Business Central expertise in Ukraine.

For more details on our add-ons, visit our YouTube channel or the “Localisation and Add-ons” section of our website. You can also send a request to hello@clarity-team.com, and we will gladly provide a demonstration of the system, add-ons and Ukrainian localisation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
