The Ukrainian IT sector faces numerous challenges, including war, talent migration, and global competition. At the same time, new opportunities for growth are emerging. Mariіa Shevchuk, Executive Director of the IT Ukraine Association, joined an expert discussion on key trends that will shape the IT market in 2025.

  • Generative Artificial Intelligence: From Tool to Strategic Asset

Mariіa Shevchuk emphasized that generative artificial intelligence is evolving from a process optimization tool into a strategic asset that defines the competitiveness of businesses and nations.

  • Sovereign AI: The New Geopolitics of Data

One of the significant trends is the development of sovereign AI. Governments aim to localize data processing and establish their own cloud platforms to reduce reliance on foreign technologies.

This not only meets regulatory requirements but also creates technological barriers between countries,

— added Mariіa Shevchuk.

  • Cybersecurity: A New Frontline of Defense

The number of cyberattacks is growing, transforming them from a business risk into a national security threat,

— Mariіa Shevchuk noted.

She highlighted the importance of investing in automated monitoring platforms, cloud solutions and algorithms for early threat detection.

  • Insights from Industry Leaders

Other experts, including company executives and industry representatives, also shared their views on the future of the IT sector:

  • Vladimir Mnogoletniy, CEO of Genesis, stressed the importance of restoring STEM education as a foundation for talent development and the technological ecosystem.
  • Oleksandr Lapko, CEO of RozetkaPay, outlined prospects for the development of EdTech, robotics, and digital goods.
  • Stepan Mitish, Vice President at EPAM Ukraine, highlighted the role of junior specialists and global trends such as Generative AI, cybersecurity, and cloud solutions.

The participants concluded that the future of Ukraine’s IT industry depends on adapting to new realities and quickly integrating innovative solutions. For more on this, including investment directions within the IT market for 2025, read the New Voice article.
