On 18 March, a closed meeting took place with the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine, which confirmed the importance of active cooperation with international partners to ensure cybersecurity and the development of cyber infrastructure in Ukraine.

Oleksandr Potii, the Head of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine since 2024, is a leading Ukrainian expert in the fields of cyber and information security, information protection, cryptography, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Professor.

Priority areas for the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection in 2025 include:

  • Implementation of a security declaration system in accordance with the basic standards of the United States;
  • Building cybersecurity infrastructure, including the creation of incident response teams in various ownership forms and the development of centres for implementing cybersecurity measures;
  • Developing a new cybersecurity strategy for the next 5 years;
  • Establishing ties with representatives of special communication services from other countries, such as the USA, Spain, Germany, Estonia, the UK, Finland;
  • Formation of a professional labour market in the cybersecurity field, including continuing the expansion of the professional classification by adding 40 cybersecurity professions and developing professional standards;
  • Development of cybersecurity monitoring systems.

During the meeting, the areas of interaction with international partners for 2025 were discussed, as well as key priorities for Ukraine’s interaction with international partners, including the USA, Sweden, Germany, France, and other countries, where knowledge and experience in cybersecurity will be exchanged — for instance, GIZ (Germany), which supports training Ukrainian cybersecurity representatives.

Following the discussion, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the IT Ukraine Association and the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine.

Strengthening Ukraine’s cybersecurity and aligning standards with the best Western practices are vital components of Ukraine’s defence capability and digital resilience. As the largest national association in the industry, with over 220 IT companies and partners, strengthening cooperation with the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection is of utmost importance to us,

stated Maria Shevchuk, Executive Director of the IT Ukraine Association.

We thank SoftServe, an ITU member company, for its hospitality.
