Since the beginning of the War, thousands of families in Ukraine have been forced to leave their homes and move to safer regions of the country, taking only the bare essentials with them. With the start of the new school year, much of the education is offered exclusively online through the active phase of the War, leaving children with the only option – to continue their education with technology that connects them to the classroom. Today, at the request of the Ministry for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine, 130 000 schoolchildren need devices that would give them access to education.
In order to ensure access to e-learning for young Ukrainians, the IT Ukraine Association in partnership with the Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce (NUCC) and the Yukon Charitable Foundation are implementing the joint project “IT SchoolKids #Chernivtsi”. Norwegian office of the international company Tietoevry also joined the initiative and transferred the notebooks. Thanks to the project, schoolchildren from relocated and low-income families will receive computers for studying.
On November 3, as part of the project, the first batch of computers was handed over to two educational institutions in Chernivtsi.
Under martial law, children are deprived of the opportunity to learn and develop normally. At the request of the Ministry for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine, we turned to our international partners for help. We hope that the donated computers will support Ukrainian schoolchildren and encourage them to study, help them get through this difficult period that our country is going through now. We are incredibly grateful to our partners from the Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and the international company Tietoevry for their sincere desire to help and support Ukrainian children. Together with the Yukon Charitable Foundation, we will launch this project today in Chernivtsi,

The IT SchoolKids #Chernivtsi project is designed to provide access to e-learning for Ukrainian schoolchildren, which is especially relevant during the state of war, when dozens of Ukrainian schools have been destroyed by the aggressor, thousands of young Ukrainians suffer from missile attacks, have lost their homes and are forced to become temporary refugees, and our educators report maximum efforts to ensure high-quality online learning in such conditions. Together with international partners, we set ourselves an ambitious goal – to provide computers to every student in the families of temporary immigrants, as well as children from low-income families. It was decided to hand over the first batch of laptops received from Norway in Chernivtsi to students of Lyceum No. 18, where more than 80 students with IDP status study, as well as Lyceum No. 5 “Oriyana,”
