During three months, at EPAM University high-school students are going to learn all about IT technologies and professions, and how the whole industry works. Attending the Pre-Junior Program is free of charge, but not everyone will be admitted. The candidates are expected to be enthusiastic and have a certain level of skills and knowledge, as they are supposed to be learning basics of programming, web-design and cloud services.
Statistics shows that quite a number of students in the middle of their studies in the university can’t picture themselves in the profession, thus a lot of students appear to have chosen the profession without full understanding of the matter. Pre-Junior Program intends to help high-school students create their impression of the current IT industry, professions and have a glimpse at work of an IT company from the inside. This will help avoid future disappointments resulting from skewed understanding of the specifics and requirements of the industry. The results of the pilot project, which collected several hundreds of interested high-school students this spring, has proved the importance of such kind of orientation initiatives.
