On 11th March 2026, the third AI & Big Data Conference – Regional AI Valley took place in Bucharest. The event brought together 800 participants and 70 speakers from the technology, finance, and defence sectors, becoming an important platform for discussing the integration of artificial intelligence into business processes and regional public policy.

The conference was organised by AmCham Romania, AmCham Moldova, and AmCham Ukraine, together with the IT Ukraine Association, ANIS Romania, and ATIC Moldova. The event demonstrated the need for a shared platform for cooperation between the three countries and served as a space for exchanging expertise and building strategic partnerships.

Ukrainian experts on stage

Experts from companies that are members of the Association also participated in the conference:

  • Lucian Gruia, Head of Data Science & AI at Ciklum, took part in the panel discussion “AI in Industry & Commerce – Efficiency and Growth Through Innovation”, which focused on the practical application of AI to improve business efficiency and drive innovation.
  • Roman Lanskyi, CEO & Co-Founder of Strimco, spoke at the panel “Tech for Defense: AI, Strategic Resilience & Dual-Use Innovation”, which explored the role of technology and AI in strengthening strategic resilience and advancing defence innovation.

Key topics of the conference

  • AI in Policy & Defence

Representatives from Cisco, Google, and IBM, together with public sector institutions — ANCOM Romania, e-Governance Moldova, and the Defense Committee of the Chamber of Deputies (Romania) — as well as international organisations including the NATO Industrial Advisory Group and the EBRD, discussed AI governance, strategic resilience, and cybersecurity.

  • AI in Business

Leaders from IBM, Google, Adobe, Genpact, and Leviatan Group, together with representatives from Amazon, Booking.com, Ciklum, FintechOS, Microsoft, Oracle, UiPath, and Vodafone, analysed how intelligent automation is optimising business processes.

  • AI in Finance

Representatives from Visa, Cisco, maib, Banca Transilvania, Deloitte, ING Bank, and SAS Institute shared insights on the transformation of financial security and the improvement of customer experience in the banking sector.

Among the speakers were also experts including Louise Gunsjö (IBM Quantum Ambassador), Dr Nadiia Vasylieva (MIT), Joe Weiss (Palo Alto UK), and Professors Haim Levy and Eugen Dimant, who shared practical perspectives on human–AI interaction within modern organisational structures.

Support and strategic significance

On behalf of the organisers, Cerasela Băiculescu, Vice President of AmCham Romania, and Alexandru Gozun, President of AmCham Moldova, emphasised the strong interest among business communities in cooperation and partnerships.

Technology is no longer simply a support for business but is becoming the central element that defines the architecture of the future. Artificial intelligence will strengthen economic competitiveness and reinforce regional resilience,

– noted Cerasela Băiculescu.

The only path to competitiveness is collaboration. Through joint efforts of the public sector, business, academia, and civil society, we can create a regional AI ecosystem,

– emphasised Alexandru Gozun.

Government representatives also participated in the conference, including Oana-Clara Gheorghiu, Deputy Prime Minister of Romania; Eugen Osmochescu, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova; and Anca Dragu, Governor of the National Bank of Moldova.

The conference confirmed Bucharest’s potential as a hub for innovation and digital transformation and served as a platform for building a regional AI and Big Data community.

The third edition of the conference was organised with the support of IBM (Strategic Partner); Cisco and Visa (Platinum Partners); Adobe, DAAC Digital, Genpact, Google, Envisia, Leviatan Group, maib, UNFPA, and Zipper (Gold Partners); AC Tech (Inception Partner); and Euronews Romania (Strategic Media Partner).
