Free AI Training for Families and Teachers

Free AI Training for Families and Teachers

Publication date:

Publication from:

Unicorn School

An educational initiative aimed at the responsible and practical use of artificial intelligence in the educational process has started in Ukraine. The program combines free online courses for students in grades 8-11, their parents, and educators, and is intended to change the approach to AI in education — from bans and fears to conscious, ethical, and effective application.

Today, artificial intelligence is already widely present in the school environment; however, its usage is chaotic and lacks methodological guidelines. Students use AI primarily for the quick completion of assignments, which replaces the learning process; parents do not distinguish the line between technological assistance and academic dishonesty; and teachers often perceive the tool as a threat and try to limit it instead of integrating it into the educational process. As a result, a gap arises between digital reality and traditional approaches to learning, where technology is already being used, but rules for its responsible application are virtually absent.

The initiative was developed by the team of the Unicorn School distance school in cooperation with Ukrainian experts in the field of artificial intelligence and IT education. The IT Ukraine Association acts as a partner of the initiative. The courses are approved by AI experts, including Oleksandr Krokoveckyi, CEO of DevRain, and Arseniy Finberg, founder of Prostir86 and a science popularizer.

  What Students Will Study

The educational track for schoolchildren is built in several formats — from a basic introduction to tools to a deeper understanding of the principles of how models work.

AI Lab (Basic Level) Course topics include: creating your own virtual AI assistant; generating videos and content ideas using neural networks; creating memes and visual styles using AI; formulating effective requests (prompts); using AI to create characters and game prototypes.

AI Lab 2.0 (Advanced Level) A course for students who already have a foundation and want to understand how AI works at a mechanical level. Participants analyze how a model’s response is formed, why it makes mistakes, and what the quality of the result depends on. A special focus is the AI Guide: how to formulate prompts to get more accurate answers. Students learn what tokens and vectors are, how AI has evolved, and learn to confidently use various AI services for real educational and creative tasks.

Separate Track for Parents

The “AI Guide for Parents” helps them understand how to support their child in the AI era. Topics include: what artificial intelligence is and how it is used in learning; how to explain the principles of neural networks simply; when AI help is useful and when it replaces learning; how to ensure the safe and responsible use of tools.

Course for Teachers and Educators

The “Artificial Intelligence for Teachers” course is a practical program for educators who want to safely and professionally integrate AI into the teaching process. It covers basic AI principles, prompt engineering, working with texts and visual content, creating tests and control assignments, as well as using tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Diffit, Magic School AI, NotebookLM, and Canva. The program is built around the real needs of a teacher — lesson preparation, material adaptation, and knowledge assessment — and helps significantly save time while maintaining didactic quality and academic integrity. The main idea of the course is not to replace the teacher with technology, but to enhance their capabilities using AI.

Initiators’ Position

We do not believe that artificial intelligence should be fought. At Unicorn School, we choose to learn how to use it so that it helps in solving various tasks. AI must be implemented in education consciously and ethically. That is why we created these courses for teachers, parents, and children — to provide the real cases and tools that are so lacking. And we made them completely free. After all, our social mission is to make Ukrainian education modern and truly high-quality,

notes Volodymyr Strashko, director of Unicorn School and author of the idea for the courses.

How to Join

The courses are free and available online. To join, you must register on the platform, gain access to a personal account, and complete online lessons with practical tasks at a convenient time.
