On April 17, the Mind WinTech Summit 2025 took place, where the latest trends in the AgriTech sector transforming the agribusiness in Ukraine were discussed. Representatives from ITU Member companies participated in the summit as speakers.
At the panel discussion ‘Trends in AgriTech Solutions’ key representatives from the agricultural sector, including representatives of the ITU AgriTech Committee, shared their vision for the future of agricultural technologies in Ukraine. The main topics included the challenges of the war, barriers to innovation, and the prospects for digitalisation and investment in automation.
Bohdan Kruhlyk, Director of FRENDT, noted that the accuracy of technologies is a primary condition for modern agricultural production.
At FRENDT, they are working on digital solutions that enable farmers to control operations in real-time – from chatbots to online monitoring of fieldwork.
Nazar Malinyak, Managing Partner at ITU Member SmartFarming, noted that the main barriers are not only institutional but also cultural. The speaker also highlighted that the investment weakness of farmers due to income cyclicality hinders the implementation of technologies.
The Ukrainian innovation culture has not yet been formed. We lack the tradition of cooperation between business, science, and the state,
— said Nazar Malinyak.
During the panel, speakers discussed the future of Ukrainian agribusiness and the changes brought about by technology. Today, the market is just beginning to explore precision farming, automation is accelerating, but mass robotisation is a prospect for the next 10-20 years.
Innovations are present, but they often do not bring results because there is simply no one to apply them correctly. We have farmers with million-dollar equipment and a basic level of education – this is the reality,
— explained Bohdan Kruhlyk.
In addition, FRENDT is already supplying AI sprayers from EcoRobotix to Ukraine, which operate with an accuracy of 6×6 cm. Therefore, the next trend is AI assistants for farmers and agronomists.
One of the speakers noted that Ukrainian farmers are now forced to focus on practical solutions. The main demand from the agribusiness sector at the moment is data collection and the creation of differentiated processing maps with accuracy at the plot level.
The Mind WinTech Summit 2025 was organised by the business publication Mind with the support of the IT Ukraine Association.
