USAID launched CyberAccelerator UA

USAID launched CyberAccelerator UA

Publication date:

Publication from:

Program mentors will assist small and medium-sized IT businesses to develop strategies and business plans to promote their cybersecurity solutions in the Ukrainian and global markets. Open call for the acceleration program will last until May 23.

The USAID Cybersecurity Activity experts have been working on studying the cybersecurity market in Ukraine for about six months and have already shared some findings. Thus, the volume of the domestic cybersecurity market in 2019 is about $ 100 million. Half of this amount is the procurement of the public sector and state-owned enterprises, the leading share of hardware products.

Through in-depth interviews with industry representatives, the team identified critical areas for cybersecurity development. These are public-private cybersecurity infrastructure development projects, outsourcing, outstaff cybersecurity services, and cybersecurity products/services for export.

The global market for cybersecurity products and services is expected to grow to $ 250 billion in 2-3 years. We are helping Ukrainian cybersecurity companies gain market share and hope they succeed,
— said Tim Dubel, USAID's Critical Security for Ukraine's Critical Infrastructure Project.
The USAID Cybersecurity Activity is a 4-year project aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s cyber preparedness and cyber resilience through systemic reforms, building Ukraine’s human resources in cybersecurity, and partnering with the private sector. Under the third component, the team plans, in particular, to support the development of small and medium-sized businesses in cybersecurity and to promote partnerships and investment ties.

What the CyberAccelerator UA is

During the three-month CyberAcelerator UA program, the selected product and service IT companies will receive mentoring support and assistance from cybersecurity and business development professionals. During the acceleration, participants are expected to develop a clear strategy and business plan to promote their cybersecurity solutions in the Ukrainian and global markets. Both IT product companies (early-stage & pre-seed) and outsourcing companies that already provide or plan to provide customers with cybersecurity services can apply. Among the requirements are registration of the company/branch in Ukraine, experience in the local market for 1-3 years, and the team’s willingness to work on a new product/service. The CyberAcelerator UA team plans to accelerate 50 cybersecurity companies in groups of 10-15 teams in three years. Also, the organizers’ team will answer any additional questions at the online Q&A event on May 20 (https://fb.me/e/5tlBIXbEI). You can learn more about acceleration and apply for participation online until May 23 at the link: cyberua.org. The CyberAccelerator UA is implemented by SocialBoost within the USAID Cybersecurity Activity. The program partners are Catalisto, DAI, ISSP, VFI. The US Government provides full support to Ukraine in the field of cybersecurity, in particular through the 4-year USAID Cybersecurity of Critical Infrastructure of Ukraine Activity, aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s cyber resilience through systemic reforms, building Ukraine’s cybersecurity capacity, partnership with the private sector. #CyberAcceleratorUA #USAIDCyber
