On May 23, the Ukrainian Side Event of the largest technology conference in Europe took place, which attracted more than 165,000 visitors, 13,500 startups, and 400 speakers. At Ukrainian Tech Night 2024, representatives of leading technology companies in Ukraine and France, startups, and government bodies met to share experiences and build a platform for mutual growth.

Oleksandr Bornyakov, Deputy Minister for Digital Transformation of Ukraine, and Mr. Pierre Heilbronn, the French President’s special envoy for Ukraine’s relief and reconstruction, opened the event.

Our IT industry is one of the main drivers of sustainable economic development. Despite the war, Ukrainian IT companies help improve the business processes of global organizations, ensure data security, develop innovative solutions and implement digital transformation strategies. The world already knows Ukraine as an IT hub, where highly qualified engineers are able to shape the future. Support and development of the IT sector are the focus of our strategy. Today, UKRSIBBANK is one of the leaders in IT industry services in Ukraine. We provide comprehensive financial solutions for almost 1,500 IT companies and more than 100,000 IT specialists, which is almost 30% of the Ukrainian IT market. Our experience and international expertise as the main shareholder of BNP Paribas allow us to offer unique proposals for the IT sector. We believe in the huge potential of Ukrainian IT and will continue to support them and strive to be the best bank for them. By investing in Ukraine now, we are investing in our future,

– shared Yulia Kadulina, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, Personal Finance Director, UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group.

The executive director of the IT Ukraine Association, Maria Shevchuk, spoke on the topic “IT Insights from Ukraine 2024” based on the results of the “Digital Tiger: the Power of Ukrainian IT – 2023” research. In particular, the ITU CEO revealed the latest data on the role of Ukraine in the world economy, the geography of Ukrainian exports and statistics on Ukrainian IT companies. Thus, over the past decade, there has been rapid growth in the role of IT in the Ukrainian economy. The share of the export of computer services in the export of services increased by 35.8%, which is 4% of GDP.

During the event, a panel discussion “Turning challenges into advantages: strategies for harnessing the potential in Ukrainian partnerships” was held, moderated by Dominique Piotet (President of La French Tech Kyiv), at which the following spoke:

  • Oleksandr Bornyakov, Deputy Minister for Digital Transformation of Ukraine
  • Anna Onyshchenko, Vice President, Head of Sales, Mastercard in Ukraine and Moldova;
  • Yuliia Kadulina, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board, Personal Finance Director, UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group;
  • Anton Pavlovsky, Founder & CEO of Headway.

Among the topics discussed at the discussion:

  • What can be the role of the Ukrainian innovation sector in the global context and what are the prospects for its further development through cooperation with foreign partners;
  • What Ukraine can offer global companies in the field of digital payments;
  • What are the key advantages of partnering with Ukrainian companies for international business and how can they be used in the global market

Despite all the challenges of a full-scale war, today Ukraine does not stop its intensive innovative development. For me, it is a matter of pride that for many years in a row, our country has been among the top ten world leaders in terms of the volume of NFC payments with Mastercard digital cards in smartphones and gadgets. We at Mastercard are relentlessly developing the latest digital services in the country, as well as deepening our cooperation with the government, in particular, to provide support to Ukrainian entrepreneurs and startups through partnerships within the powerful Diia.Business ecosystem – online and offline, in Ukraine and beyond”

– emphasises Anna Onyshchenko, Vice President, Head of Sales, Mastercard in Ukraine and Moldova.

In general, the event’s synergy was composed of about 150 guests from the innovative sectors of the two countries. The participants had the opportunity for productive networking. See more: yan.ua/l/UTN-Viva-Tech-2024-LinkedIn.
