Yesterday, on May 6th, a meeting with Andrii Sybiha, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, organised by the IT Ukraine Association, took place yesterday (May 6th), with ITU Executive Director Maria Shevchuk and ITU Member Companies’ Representatives in attendance. The roundtable was joined by experts in software development, financial technologies, IT consulting, cybersecurity, and digital services.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to the IT community for their resilience and work during the war, emphasising that this sector could serve as an example of economic self-sufficiency.

A strong and dynamic IT sector is an integral part of a strong Ukraine, which is consistently scaling its influence through the development of mutually beneficial partnerships and economic ties. The Ukrainian IT sector is not only a strategically important industry for the economy but also a globally recognised leader and brand that sets modern technological standards.

The aim of the meeting was to discuss practical ways of cooperation between the Ukrainian diplomatic service and the IT business to expand the presence of the Ukrainian IT sector in international markets, as well as effectively involve Ukrainian IT developments in public, economic, and digital diplomacy.

I believe in foreign policy that is based on a strong economy and successful projects,

— said Andrii Sybiha, emphasising that a country’s resilience is determined by the resilience of its business.

The Minister highlighted that supporting Ukrainian exporters of IT solutions and IT services is a focus of Ukrainian diplomacy, as it helps strengthen Ukraine’s economy during wartime, enhances the country’s position abroad, and opens up new opportunities for domestic technological players. The Minister also noted that priority in Ukraine’s reconstruction and the opportunity to utilise advanced Ukrainian digital and defence solutions will be given to those countries that support Ukraine.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stressed the importance of the digital transformation of the diplomatic service, especially in the area of consular services, where Ukraine has set an ambitious goal of becoming a leader in providing convenient and high-quality services to its citizens abroad. The head of Ukraine’s foreign ministry also drew attention to the importance of cooperation with the Ukrainian IT sector in public and cultural diplomacy and assured that the interaction between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the domestic IT sector will continue.

The meeting participants also discussed the significance of the ‘Diia’ digital ecosystem, which is not only a successful Ukrainian IT product but also an effective tool for strengthening cooperation with other countries, developing promising technological partnerships, and promoting Ukraine’s interests in different parts of the world.

We extend our gratitude to the Minister for his readiness for the dialogue and communication.
