At the Mind WinTech Summit 2025, an important discussion took place titled ‘How Modern Technologies are Changing Ukraine’s Energy Market?’During this event, leaders of top companies, including ITU Member MODUS X, discussed the latest trends in Ukraine’s energy industry.
Digitalisation of the energy sector, particularly the use of artificial intelligence and digital twins, has become a key factor in optimising business processes in this field.
The full-scale war has transformed the traditional perception of energy, emphasising the importance of innovation to ensure stability in energy supply. One of the main drivers of change has been digitalisation, which enables improved forecasting of electricity generation and consumption, as well as risk reduction.
Energy in wartime requires fast and effective solutions, founded on the digitalisation of business processes. Despite the widespread adoption of AI, worrying that this technology brings a machine uprising in the energy sector would be unnecessary. AI delivers innovations that help us work more efficiently and steadily in challenging, risky conditions. This is the primary role of AI,
— said Valentyn Vyntu, Chief Data Officer of MODUS X.
Forecasting models for wind and solar generation developed in Ukraine provide more accurate indicators than Western counterparts. This demonstrates that Ukrainian energy companies are technologically on par with the EU. Thanks to the effective use of AI and the implementation of digital twins, Ukrainian companies can ensure high-quality forecasts in energy markets.
The situation in the energy sector changed after 24 February 2022. The war became a catalyst for operational development. Energy companies began actively investing in new technologies, analytics, and forecasting. The large-scale war accelerated operational development, notably through the introduction of digital solutions for generation forecasting.
The future of Ukraine’s energy sector is linked to the development of renewable energy sources (RES). Projects in this area can be implemented quickly and efficiently, while also ensuring environmental sustainability and social support for communities. Given the “green” trends, volumes of RES in Ukraine will increase in line with market demand.
