This year, the Second Hackathon on Integrity Education and Corruption Prevention in Ukraine’s Defence and Security Sector took place. The event aims to create a platform for fruitful collaboration between talented youth and professional experts, focused on developing innovative and technological solutions for the defence sector and in the context of the implementation of the State Anti-Corruption Programme, as well as fostering high standards of integrity among young people.

The Hackathon on Integrity Education and Corruption Prevention in Ukraine’s Defence and Security Sector brought together young talents and experienced professionals to create innovative solutions that strengthen the defence capabilities of our country.

Our goal is not only to help participants unlock their potential, but also to establish high standards of professional ethics, teamwork, and leadership.

We believe that such initiatives are incredibly valuable in shaping a new generation of technological leaders who will provide the country with competitive solutions in the future. We are grateful to the organisers of the hackathon, partners, and the companies involved for their dedication and desire to develop young talent.

This event not only creates a platform for collaboration between youth and experienced experts but also contributes to forming high standards of professional integrity. We are proud that in Ukraine, initiatives are emerging that unite people and innovative solutions in the defence sector.

I am confident that this hackathon will be a catalyst for important projects that will change the future.

– Mariia Shevchuk, Executive Director of the IT Ukraine Association.

Thanks to the support of partners and IT Ukraine Association members, hackathon participants gained access to valuable resources that facilitated their development. The event’s partners provided useful gifts and educational opportunities for all teams taking part in the competition. This highlights the importance of collaboration between business, education and youth in shaping the technological future of the country.

Participants received support and access to training from IT Ukraine Association member companies, including:

  • Hillel IT School provided all winning participants with certificates for training in any course of their choice.
  • EPAM provided professional LinkedIn profile licences for all participants.
  • GoIT awarded teams with certificates for training courses of their choice, as well as recognised teams for their creative solutions and unconventional approaches to tasks.
  • Neoversity provided access to an online IT Master’s degree programme.

Additionally, participants received motivational prizes, including travel pillows and reusable water bottles from Viseven, waist bags from N-iX, and IT-themed board games from Favbet Tech.

The winners of the Hackathon were awarded during the V International Scientific and Practical Forum “Effective Governance and Integrity Education in the Defence and Security Sector” on December 11, 2024. The Second Hackathon on Integrity Education and Corruption Prevention in Ukraine’s Defence and Security Sector once again proved its importance as a platform that not only develops professional skills but also fosters the combination of innovative thinking with high moral values. This event became a catalyst for important projects that will change the future of Ukraine’s defence sector.

The event was organised by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the National Defence University of Ukraine, and the Headquarters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. IT Ukraine Association once again became one of the key partners, providing resources and opportunities for the development of the event, making a significant contribution to the success and motivation of the participants.
