The 8th CASSINI Hackathon in Ukraine: Launch Your Space Startup!

From 22-24 November 2024, Ukraine will host the 8th CASSINI Hackathon — a unique opportunity for those dreaming of launching a startup in the fields of space technology, defense and security. The event will bring together participants from 10 European countries, competing for both local and international prizes.

 

Main Goal is to develop innovative solutions leveraging European space technologies to strengthen Europe’s defense and security.

 

The hackathon is open to anyone interested in entrepreneurship, the defense industry, or EU space technologies. Participants will work on various challenges using one or a combination of the following tools:

 

• Geospatial data from the Earth observation program Copernicus and its services.
• Satellite positioning and navigation services from Galileo and EGNOS systems.
• New digital technologies (e.g., machine learning, augmented/virtual reality, blockchain).

Challenge Themes:

 

1. Enhancing defense and security through geospatial intelligence.
2. Utilizing unmanned drones for defense and security operations.
3. Orbital security: collision avoidance.

 

The hackathon is open to participants from all professional backgrounds—entrepreneurs, tech enthusiasts, and beyond. Teams can use tools such as Copernicus data, Galileo and EGNOS systems, augmented reality, blockchain, machine learning, and more.

Local Prizes in Ukraine:

 

• 1st place: 70,000 UAH.
• 2nd place: 40,000 UAH.
• 3rd place: 25,000 UAH.

European Final Prizes (27 November 2024):

 

• 1st place: €5,000.
• 2nd place: €3,000.
• 3rd place: €1,000.
