During the Mind WinTech Summit 2025, a panel discussion titled “CyberTech. Cybersecurity: Trends in Threats and How to Tackle Them” took place, where representatives from the CyberTech Committee of ITU shared their experience in combating cyber threats and discussed how to reduce costs for security and adopt a proactive approach.
This year, the main vectors of cyber threats remain attacks on critical infrastructure, supply chain attacks, phishing, and the use of artificial intelligence. More than 840 companies have fallen victim to cyberattacks, especially in the Retail, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Government sectors. Cybercriminals are increasingly using artificial intelligence for targeted phishing, not only targeting companies but also specific individuals.
Oleh Polihenko, Chief Information Security Specialist at ITU Member Nova Digital, highlighted the importance of regularly updating security settings, keeping software up to date, and performing basic infrastructure checks.
Cybersecurity is about people. It requires constant work: training personnel, understanding risks, and knowing what actions to take in case of incidents,
— said Oleh Polihenko.
Sergii Prynov, Acting CEO of ITU Member Seeton, emphasised that small and medium businesses should not postpone addressing cybersecurity issues.
Don’t justify the delay with a lack of resources, time, or funds — the market already offers affordable services for SMEs,
— stressed Sergii Prynov.
Roman Sologub, Director and Co-founder of ITU Member ISSP, noted that more and more attacks are based on social engineering.
Users are the most vulnerable link, so we are seeing a shift to a human-centric security concept,
— added Roman Sologub.
One of the new threats is voice phishing, where cybercriminals can call, mimicking the voices of your friends or managers to fraudulently obtain money or information.
An important aspect of protection is the integration of cybersecurity into a company’s organisational culture, particularly through educating employees about a safe working environment. The relevance of these threats is growing, and it is crucial for businesses to take active steps to protect their data and systems.
The Mind WinTech Summit 2025 was organised by the business publication Mind with the support of the IT Ukraine Association.
