The IT Ukraine Association has become a partner of the large-scale international INSPIRE project, aimed at introducing institutional accreditation into Ukraine’s higher education system and integrating it into the European Education Area, in cooperation with leading Ukrainian universities, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, and partner organisations from Norway, Poland and Germany.
INSPIRE (Institutional Accreditation for Sustainable Progress, Innovation and Excellence of the Ukrainian Higher Education System towards European Integration) is a four-year project under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education programme, bringing together leading universities and organisations from Ukraine, Poland, Germany and Norway.
The project’s objective is to implement a sustainable system of institutional accreditation that will:
As part of the project, the team will work on creating a comprehensive system of institutional accreditation that aligns both with European standards and the realities of Ukrainian higher education. The work will include:
A significant part of the effort will be directed towards training specialists through specially designed programmes, workshops and seminars, with active involvement of all stakeholders — from the Ministry of Education to business representatives and students — as well as conducting a public information campaign. Particular attention will be given to mechanisms of post-accreditation monitoring and recommendations on the use of institutional autonomy to introduce innovations, interdisciplinary programmes and new forms of cooperation with industry.
The IT Ukraine Association is engaged in the project as an expert organisation representing the interests of the IT industry — one of the most dynamic and innovative sectors of the Ukrainian economy.
Unlike programme-level accreditation, institutional accreditation enables universities to:
This is particularly relevant for the IT sector, where demand for qualified IT professionals continues to grow, yet the traditional education system struggles to keep pace with the speed of technological change. Institutional accreditation may provide a solution to this challenge.
The project involves eight Ukrainian universities, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, as well as IT Ukraine and other key stakeholders in the education system.
The project’s inaugural meeting took place in Wrocław with the participation of representatives from all partner organisations. During the panel discussion, the readiness of the Ukrainian academic community for institutional accreditation was debated, highlighting its potential as an effective tool for ensuring the quality of higher education.
The IT Ukraine Association actively supports initiatives aimed at developing high-quality IT education in Ukraine and preparing specialists who meet the demands of the modern labour market. Participation in the INSPIRE project will foster closer cooperation between the IT industry and universities, contributing to the creation of educational programmes that reflect the real needs of business.
Institutional accreditation will be an important step towards enhancing the international competitiveness of Ukrainian IT professionals and strengthening Ukraine’s position as a global IT hub. It will also support the country’s post-war recovery by preparing qualified specialists for the digital economy of the future.
