How to Work with Veterans in Your Team: Free Practical Workshop for Companies

How to Work with Veterans in Your Team: Free Practical Workshop for Companies

Publication date:

  • 11.09.2026

Publication from:

Beetroot Academy

The return of veterans to civilian employment is becoming an increasingly important part of everyday life for Ukrainian teams. Along with this, companies face practical questions: How should we communicate appropriately? How can we organize recruitment and adaptation after military service? What should HR professionals and managers take into account? And how can we create a working environment where veterans can work effectively and continue to grow?

Beetroot Academy, together with NGO IT Veteran, invites companies to a free practical workshop, “Veteran Friendly Digest.” The workshop aims to provide teams with practical tools for working with veterans and help companies better prepare for their recruitment, adaptation, and integration into the workplace.

NGO IT Veteran is a non-profit organization established as a specialized professional adaptation hub for veterans in Ukraine’s IT industry. The organization brings together education, career support, mentoring, internships, partnerships with employers, and business training.

Its mission is to support the professional reintegration of veterans into Ukraine’s digital economy and build an inclusive bridge between military experience and the IT business sector.

The workshops are available to companies located in the Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, and Chernihiv regions.

During the workshop, we will discuss:

– how veterans’ military experience and skills can be translated into professional competencies; – the principles of a veteran-friendly company; – appropriate communication with veterans; – recruitment, onboarding, and adaptation after military service; – working with veterans with disabilities and adapting the workplace; – common challenging situations and practical solutions for HR professionals, managers, and teams.

The workshop will be delivered by a representative of NGO IT Veteran — a veteran with professional experience in IT, who will share practical tools and their own experience of returning to civilian employment.

The workshop will take place online or offline at your company’s location and will last approximately 2 hours. The format includes practical exercises, real-life case discussions, group discussion, and an opportunity to ask questions specifically relevant to your team.

You can invite your HR team, recruiters, managers, team leads, and other colleagues for whom working with veterans is relevant.

Participation in the workshop is free of charge. The number of companies that can take part is limited.

To apply, please fill out the short registration form: HERE

After registration, we will contact the selected companies to coordinate the date, number of participants, and any additional topics or requests for the workshop.

The project is implemented with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation, with the support of Sweden.
