EPAM and UNICEF launch IT training for young people with disabilities

EPAM and UNICEF launch IT training for young people with disabilities

Publication date:

  • 23.09.2021

Publication from:

EPAM Systems

Registration is now open for members of the Child Friendly Cities Initiative
IT company EPAM, together with UNICEF, are recruiting for the innovative DevOps training course for young people with disabilities. Residents of 35 Ukrainian communities participating in the UNICEF Child Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI) can join the course. Participants who successfully complete the training will have an opportunity of employment.

The main feature of the course is its inclusive learning approach. Course participants will study in a group with the other students, while receiving additional mentoring support from EPAM employees, as well as having the opportunity to attend English classes. The main requirements for participants include motivation to develop in a new profession, basic technical knowledge, and knowledge of English at elementary level.

DevOps is a promising IT specialization that facilitates remote work and enables being competitive in the international labor market. It is important for us that every young person in Ukraine can exercise their right to quality education and interesting work with decent pay. This and our other projects are aimed at reducing barriers in education and creating an inclusive environment for professional development. We are grateful to UNICEF for the partnership, which we are sure will lead to the emergence of new talents in the company,
— said Aziza Khamidova, corporate social responsibility project expert at EPAM Ukraine.
Before the COVID 19 crisis, people with disabilities were already facing significant inequalities in terms of compensation, education and social participation. The COVID crisis has magnified those barriers and inequalities.
For many young people with disabilities, exclusion, isolation, and lack of educational and economic opportunities are daily experiences. Inequalities they faced in their childhood affect their future. Therefore, it is important to continue working to overcome the barriers that children with disabilities face, while at the same time creating opportunities for them to realize their potential and be competitive in the labor market, says Nataliya Borodchuk, UNICEF Ukraine Social Policy Project Manager.
The selection process for the training course has several stages. To participate, prospective students must complete an application form. At the end of September, candidates will be able to learn more about the course at an introductory webinar. The participants will be selected based on the results of a test assignment and an oral interview. Training will be held online and will last for up to six months, with 2-3 lessons per week. The participants who successfully complete all the stages of training will have a chance to join the EPAM team.     EPAM Systems Inc. (NYSE: EPAM) Since 1993, EPAM Systems, Inc.
