Diia.AIContest – Hackathon by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and EPAM Ukraine

This is the first state hackathon where participants will create AI services for millions of Ukrainians.

The Ministry of Digital Transformation (MinTsifra) developed the challenge ideas based on gathering relevant queries, needs, and issues from citizens regarding the Diia services. Participants will work on real-life cases that aim to simplify the daily tasks of citizens and have the opportunity to create new features for the Diia app.

The hackathon will take place online from November 14-23, with a Demo Day on November 29 in Kyiv.

“The three winning teams will receive grants totaling $8,000. Our goal is to bring together engineers, scientists, and experts in ethical AI use to create new AI solutions for state services,”

– noted Danylo Tsivok, Chief AI Officer of MinTsifra, CEO of WINWIN AI Center of Excellence.

“Registrations are open for teams of 2-6 people, or individually (in which case teams will be formed after the registration process). Participants will be supported by top mentors from EPAM Ukraine,”

– emphasized Vadym Vlasenko, AI Director at EPAM Ukraine.

Over the 20 years of the company’s operations in Ukraine, EPAM experts have contributed to various projects that enhance digital state services. The support of mentors and access to EPAM’s innovative AI/Run methodology will help participants create high-quality AI solutions with a real impact on the lives of Ukrainians.

Ten teams, selected by a competent jury, will present their developments on Demo Day. The best solutions will be integrated into the Diia app.

Participants can choose from one of three development tracks:

  1. AI for state services: developing smart assistants, navigation through public services, and generating requests based on user needs.

  2. AI services for businesses and entrepreneurs: creating tools for automating reporting, legal support, accounting for sole proprietors (FOPs), and running a business.

  3. AI for optimizing state processes: speeding up operational tasks, document analysis, data verification, and prototyping new services.

Registration is open for teams or individuals until November 12.

The event is organised by the Ministry of Digital Transformation, EPAM Ukraine, and the WINWIN AI Center of Excellence.
