How AI Agents Compensate for Labor Shortages and Help Scale Miltech: IT-Enterprise Case Studies

The Ukrainian defense-industrial complex (Miltech) is developing extremely fast, but scaling up production is often hindered by a lack of basic accounting and an acute shortage of qualified personnel. Ways to address these challenges were discussed at the UA Online Miltech Conference 2026.

IT-Enterprise experts — company co-owner Oleksii Shcherbatenko and Head of Digital Transformation Projects for Defense Sector Enterprises Taras Kakhniy — joined the conference’s specialized track, “AI in Miltech,” where they presented real case studies of the digital transformation of defense enterprises and the country’s largest military fund.

Military manufacturing has its own specific features: here, products are constantly modified to meet the current needs of the frontline, orders scale rapidly, and human resource potential is scarce. An intelligent digital ecosystem from IT-Enterprise provides flexible capacity planning in real time, 24/7.

IT-Enterprise digital technologies with our own factory of AI assistants, which are already used today by more than 20 companies in the country’s defense sector, prove that automating routine tasks and eliminating paper-based chaos allow these defense companies to scale production faster, more accurately, and without being tied to a shortage of personnel. Upon receiving an urgent order, the system allows companies to instantly analyze the availability of resources — people, materials, machine tools — and automatically reschedule manufacturing operations 24/7,

noted IT-Enterprise co-owner Oleksii Shcherbatenko.

The experts emphasized that integrating artificial intelligence into the digital system of any enterprise must be done systematically. To achieve this, three consecutive steps are identified:

  • Core ERP: bringing order to accounting, reporting, and planning (scaling is impossible without this foundation).
  • Process optimization: bringing business processes up to effective standards.
  • AI assistants: integration of AI agents that drastically accelerate already optimized processes.

Instead of scattered services, IT-Enterprise has deployed a full-fledged ecosystem of AI agents that interact with each other, exchange data, and independently distribute work, compensating for the lack of human resources. All developments are based on our own LLM assistant builder tailored to the tasks of a specific enterprise,

noted Taras Kakhniy, Head of Digital Transformation Projects for Defense Sector Enterprises.

Key AI solutions already working in the defense sector:

  • DocAI (document processing): replaces up to 90% of human labor during the processing of documents of various complexity with an accuracy rate of up to 99.5%. The largest military fund in the country, “Come Back Alive,” has been successfully using this solution for two years.
  • AI assistant for design documentation: automatically recognizes and structures drawings and specifications, importing them into the core systems responsible for technical document management and technical archives (PLM/PDM systems). This accelerated approvals by 50% and reduced processing time by 90%.
  • AI assistant for manufacturing documentation: automatically generates a manufacturing process based on 2D/3D models, accelerating the transition from design to manufacturing and reducing data processing time by 80%.
  • Anna Maly (anomaly detector): analyzes equipment operation and warns of breakdowns in advance (predictive maintenance), minimizing losses due to machine tool malfunctions.
