Beetroot AB, a Swedish tech company, partnered with the Stockholm-based non-profit foundation Ioca Arma Nostra to establish the “Aid for Ukraine — Beetroot Tech Relief” fund to support Ukrainians caught amidst the turmoil of Russia’s brutal war.

The fund engages Beetroot’s extensive network of colleagues and partners in Ukraine to channel the donations into grassroots humanitarian aid, primarily focused on supporting impactful and tangible local community initiatives.

Ukraine, the country that became my home, is under attack. It’s a completely unprovoked madness and tragedy in every possible way. The incredibly brave Ukrainians are fighting for freedom, independence, and peace — defending their homeland and our free world, said Andreas Flodström, Founder & CEO of Beetroot. Most of our colleagues are still in Ukraine, willing to find new ways to help with fundraising. We want to continue with our social mission — creating positive change in people’s lives — helping to save Ukraine’s future.

By donating to the fund, managed by Beetroot AB in Sweden, donors contribute to relieving specific situations caused by war: evacuation and relocation of Ukrainian families to safer cities or abroad; personal emergencies, including medical and health issues; the loss of critical personal possessions and essential needs that are difficult to define preemptively.
We’re living a dark episode of European history. Children and young people in Ukraine, who deserve a bright life full of dreams and visions, were robbed of their future, said Björn Bringes and Katre Saard, Founders of Ioca Arma Nostra. Ioca Arma Nostra and Beetroot have been working together since 2019, and we are confident that all donations will greatly relieve Ukrainian communities.
Beetroot uses an internal system to identify, verify and implement high-impact local aid initiatives. One of the main criteria for selecting projects is their humanitarian profile focused on supporting Ukrainian families in need. Priority is given to small hands-on organizations in locations with an urgent need for assistance, hot spots close to the front lines, and regions that shelter internally displaced people in large numbers. An additional focus is to help children and vulnerable social groups. The fund primarily supports the initiatives proposed by Beetroot Ecosystem members, partners, or carefully selected trusted applicants. The long-term nature of each initiative, especially those aimed at helping large groups of affected people, and their lasting social impact is an important, albeit not decisive, factor.
Volunteers collaborating with the fund are not fancy names but dedicated hearts of gold, unfolding their inspirational stories and making a real difference on the ground. For example, Serhiy, a project manager at a local blockchain company in Vinnytsia. He and peer charity workers are now setting up kitchens in refugee shelters, providing people with food and temporary housing. Or Olena, a yoga instructor from Lviv who coordinates a transit shelter — a former yoga center where women, children, and the elderly can rest and receive the necessary care and support on their journey to safety. The Beetroot Tech Relief Fund coordination group thoroughly monitors the progress of every aid initiative, providing regular updates on its implementation that benefits war-affected Ukrainians fast and effectively. About Beetroot Beetroot is a tech ecosystem with its roots in Sweden, helping clients solve their software and staffing needs by managing every step in tech competency — from education to sustainable development services. Beetroot was founded in 2012 and today engages around 600 people across its headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden, and Europe. Read more about Beetroot here. About Ioca Arma Nostra The Ioca Arma Nostra trust was established on February 16, 2018, and registered with the County Administrative Board in Stockholm. During its first years, Ioca Arma Nostra has chosen to support children in Ukraine who fled the war-torn eastern parts of the country and Crimea. Hundreds of thousands of war-affected and internally displaced children still live under challenging conditions in other parts of Ukraine — a mission field for private grassroots initiatives where the state resources are limited. Ioca Arma Nostra is managed by Alpcot AB, an entrepreneurial organization that has previously worked with Eastern Europe and Ukraine. Read more about Ioca Arma Nostra here.
