SoftServe joins UN Climate Responsibility Declaration

SoftServe joins UN Climate Responsibility Declaration

Publication date:

  • 25.07.2025

Publication from:

SoftServe

ITU Member SoftServe has signed the UN Climate Responsibility and Environmental Impact Declaration, reinforcing its long-term commitment to sustainability and climate action.

The declaration outlines commitments to integrate climate risk into strategic planning, promote more sustainable practices across industries and supply chains, and participate in public consultations on environmental and sustainability policies.

The UN Global Compact highlights that businesses must take responsibility for their environmental impact, as they directly consume natural resources.

Only systematic actions deliver real results. Environmental care and sustainable development have always been among SoftServe’s key priorities. In 2021, we took an important step forward by introducing a new approach to environmental management. We take a comprehensive view — considering not only strategic goals, but also risks, context, and all business processes. We continuously assess which processes have the greatest climate impact and focus on transforming them,

— says Yuliia Kuvitanova, Environmental Sustainability Director at SoftServe.

The company is also part of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), under which it will set and validate science-based targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by May 2026.

SBTi is closely aligned with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), which mobilises the private sector in addressing climate change. As part of this collaboration, SoftServe joined the 2025 UNGC Accelerator and became a signatory to the Climate Responsibility Declaration.

A systematic approach to environmental transformation

SoftServe has been implementing comprehensive environmental solutions for several years. The company reports its climate impact through the international Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) platform and cooperates closely with leading global organisations in the climate sphere.

At a practical level, SoftServe focuses on decarbonisation by implementing energy-efficient solutions. Three solar power plants have already been installed at SoftServe offices in Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk, while the company’s offices in Poland run on renewable energy. Thanks to smart energy management — including optimisation of heating and cooling systems — the company has reduced energy consumption by approximately 30% in recent years.

For over five years, SoftServe has selected office spaces with energy efficiency certifications. One of its Kyiv offices, in the Avenue53 business center, was recently awarded LEED Platinum certification — the highest level of sustainability recognition. Another strategic priority is lowering emissions across the supply chain. SoftServe is actively working to create the conditions for meaningful reductions.
