DIGITALEUROPE, the leading trade association representing digitally transforming industries in Europe, invited IT Ukraine Association to join as a member. During the DIGITALEUROPE meeting on March 8, Konstantin Vasyuk, Executive Director of IT Ukraine Association spoke on the state of the Ukrainian IT industry at war.

Here are a few statements from the meeting:

  • The Ukrainian IT industry is still running, and companies continue projects with their international customers.
  • Ukrainian IT companies following their BCPs have successfully evacuated their staff from central and eastern regions of the country.
  • Many Ukrainian IT specialists joined the armed forces of Ukraine, in particular those who had experience in military actions during previous years. The ones having high-level cyber security skills have joined the IT army.
  • The national telecommunications infrastructure is working despite sustained cyber-attacks and continuous bombing.
  • The European business community can help Ukraine by stopping all business operations with the Russian Federation which will lead to weakening the Russian economy.
  • IT Ukraine encourages European businesses to cooperate with Ukrainian IT companies considering their high-level professionalism and motivated teams. Ukrainian IT companies make great efforts to stop this war donating millions of euros to the army and on humanitarian goals.
During the meeting members of DIGITALEUROPE have agreed to develop a roadmap of actions to be undertaken shortly to help Ukraine, including:
  • Humanitarian aid;
  • Support against disinformation;
  • Terminating business activities with Russia;
  • Continuation contracts with Ukrainian ICT providers;
  • Spreading the message from the Ukrainian business community;
  • Provision of specific telecommunication appliances, cybersecurity support.
On March 8, DIGITALEUROPE and 35 of its national member associations called on the European Council to step up its immediate cybersecurity support to Ukraine as the country faces Russia’s aggression, as ministers gathered for the Informal Telecommunications Ministerial on 8 and 9 March.
