Process digitalization increases the transparency of Ukrainian companies

Oleg Shcherbatenko, founder and CEO of IT-Enterprise, which is a member of the ITU, names two main reasons why it is beneficial for companies to digitalize:

1. Digital transformation, maximum automation of processes, and minimization of the human factor at each stage is the path to transparency and preventing corruption. 
2. Digitalization in commercial companies helps owners control processes and be more open, which has a positive impact on the company’s efficiency and makes it more attractive to external investors. 

ITU agrees with IT-Enterprise that Ukraine should make a digital leap in the digitization of state and commercial companies from Industry 2.0 to Industry 4.0. It is vital to keep up the pace and move from patchwork automation to a comprehensive system. However, today this is happening mainly in the private sector, where the initiator is the business owner or management. A more intensive movement would require a stronger message from government agencies. 

If the system within the company is built correctly, there is no room for corruption schemes or fraud. The owner or manager can control all areas of the company’s operations, reports, results, and plans. Each person’s digital footprint remains in the system, so even years later it is possible to track down who made a mistake. Each document shows who exactly performed a certain operation or made changes. The more digital the company, the more manageable the processes and the less room for error, the so-called “human factor”. Therefore, we see that process digitalization directly translates into business transparency and attractiveness to investors,

So far, Ukraine has made a huge step in the digitalization of public services. Electronic documents and public services have become available to citizens, and there are no analogous systems worldwide.
