Joint Statement of the IT Industry united by the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, the European Business Association, the IT Ukraine Association and the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs
The IT community, united by the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, the European Business Association, the IT Ukraine Association and the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs, welcomes the decision to develop a joint Memorandum that will become a roadmap for cooperation between the state and the business to ensure favorable conditions for further sustainable development of Ukraine’s IT industry.
This agreement was reached during the meeting of the IT community with Tymofiy Milovanov, Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, and Olexandr Bornyakov, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation. During the meeting, participants discussed key issues of the IT industry’s further development and challenges to tackle.
In particular, amendments to the tax and labor legislation to align with the dynamics and demands of the industry, the concept of introducing quotas for employment of highly qualified foreign engineers, lack of IT specialists, and modernization of technical education.
Representatives of the information technology industry emphasized the need to resolve together with the government, such issues as outflow of talents, lack of graduates to meet the requirements of employers, strengthening of competition with neighbor countries by creating favorable local conditions for the development of IT industry.
Previously, the Government (Ministry of Digital Transformation) has presented ambitious goals for the development of Ukraine’s IT industry, namely: export revenues of $13 billion, 650,000 IT specialists, and 10% of the IT share in the country`s GDP.
Members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, the European Business Association, the IT Ukraine Association, and the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs welcome this decision and look forward to further constructive dialogue taking into account the specifics of the industry.
