CODE Summer: first steps in IT

CODE Summer: free summer lessons for children

Educational committee's initiative

Project description

"CODE Summer: First Steps in IТ" is a free educational program of the IT Ukraine Association, which consists of several stages and is designed for schoolchildren and students aged 12 - 17 years.

During the CODE Summer program, children will have the opportunity to work in project teams on implementing their technical ideas, visit the offices of Ukrainian IT-companies, train additional soft skills and project management. The learning process will be coordinated and supervised by mentors - experienced IT-professionals from leading Ukrainian and international companies.

The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada's Committee on Information and Communication, the Department of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Kyiv City State Administration, the Ukrainian Leadership Academy; higher educational institutions: Kiev Polytechnic Institute of I. Sikorsky, Kyiv National University of T. Shevchenko, Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts. Member-companies of the Association, such as Svitla Systems, Daxx BV, DataArt, SoftServe, EPAM, Luxoft, GlobalLogic and Valtech_ also help with the organization process.

According to the State Statistics Service, in 2017 more than 12,000 university entrants entered higher educational institutions of Ukraine for technical specialties. By this number our country takes one of the leading position in Central and Eastern Europe, however, due to the potential and dynamics of the growth of the IT-market in Ukraine (about 20% annually), the domestic IT-industry is able to provide much more high-paying jobs for skilled specialists. Initiatives like CODE Summer are aimed at attracting the younger people to work in the IT-sphere.

To promote digital technologies among the young people, provide them opportunities to learn basic programming skills and, as a result, to create their own IT-projects.
