The spring wave of the social initiative for teaching schoolchildren the basics of programming culminated on the Earth Day with an educational eco-quest. Children landscaped Solomensky park together with their parents and learned new information about environmental protection.
The latest wave of educational program EPAM eKids lasted during March and April. Using programming language Scratch, the children traditionally created cartoons, games and information projects about one of the Sustainable Development Goals. The graduation of the course coincided with the World Earth Day which the schoolchildren spent developing themselves and bettering the environment. The ceremony took place in the open air in of Kyiv’s parks where every child received a diploma. As part of the program, the children together with their parents cleaned and landscaped Solomensky Park and tried themselves in an educational eco-quest.
During the quest, the participants completed a few intellectual tasks and gained insight into the protection of planet’s biodiversity. The covered topics included recycling, water cleaning, preservation of threatened animals that feature in IUCN Red List.
The eco-quest was supported by EPAM Ukraine partners: WWF - World Wide Fund for Nature in Ukraine, UN Global Compact, United Nations Youth Advisory Panel, Plast - National Scout Organization of Ukraine.

Global educational program EPAM eKids and ecological projects are part of the social strategy of the company focused on young generation development and environmental protection. EPAM Ukraine was the first IT-company which created a Scratch programming station in KidsWill - children's city of professions in Kiev. Since May 2017 more than 7000 children have had an opportunity to get acquainted with the profession of a programmer. Volunteers regularly provide training sessions for children and coaches in the fully equipped station. The company also provides technical support in equipping children's programming clubs in cooperation with the Code.UA organization.
